Welcome

Who We Are

Our Committee is a group of Veterans who attended Garfield High School along with other individuals who wish to honor Students and Alumni who served during the Vietnam War Era, especially those who lost their lives.

Purpose

To raise funds so that the Committee may install a granite Memorial on the grounds of the James A. Garfield High School located at 5101 E. 6th Street in East Los Angeles to recognize and remember Students and Alumni who served our country during the Vietnam War, especially those who lost their lives.  The names of individuals will be inscribed on the granite Monument to honor their sacrifice and service to our country.

A Message from our Founder, Original Committee

President - Ruben Garcia ‘71

I would like to thank all persons that have donated money, items, and their

help to make this great monument a reality - our committee was very

committed to this endeavor.  I personally tried to give everyone the

respect and dignity that they truly deserve.  If any mistakes or names were

not taken and placed on the monument I take full responsibility but do

understand this was not intended.  We are still taking names to have them

inscribed and every effort will be taken for they have earned recognition

on this monument, God Bless.  - Ruben J. Garcia ‘71
